Perth Dance Calendar

It's back..... Dance student Rebecca Frasca has revived the Perth Dance Calendar, and I did all the photography and design. This is the first time it's been managed by someone else (and Rebecca did an amazing job of that), so that made it strangely simple and unstressful for me, anyway. It was really great fun working with all the WAAPA kids again.

The calendar is back from the printers and now available from me or anyone in the dance course. It will also be on sale at most contemporary dance events this year, certainly at all the WAAPA Dance shows anyway. Check www.perthdance.com for info on things coming up.

New stuff

Visible Dance gave a beautiful performance at the Youth Focus Night of Nights Ball in the Burswood Grand Ballroom last weekend, choreographed by Lucy Sedlacek, produced by Marnie Orr and accompanied by our beautiful string section and music by Trilby Temperley.

I'm back to website design fulltime for a while, which is good news for people waiting for websites. Currently just doing some business development for Visible Dance, and some new commercial work.

Rebecca and I have finished shooting the new Perth Dance Calendar, and are currently putting the design together. I think we outdid the old alleyway shoot with the new alleyway shoot this year. Can't wait to see it in print. Jessica Truscott is doing the photoshopping, so it should be really nice. :)

Harpist Michelle Smith did an amazing job at the opening for "Three Journeys" at Elements Art Gallery on Saturday night - the guests, managers and artists were all raving about how good she was (and what a good idea it was to get her in haha).

Aaaand that's about it for now.

Elements Ex

I'm currently organising the new exhibition at Elements Art Gallery; "ELEMENTS EX".

It's going to be a really interesting exhibition, with work by Yuliya Lanina, Betty T Doll, Ken Sealey, Priscilla Bracks, Liz McKay, Brooke Zeligman and Mutsuko Bonnardeaux.

Cathy Young will be performing at the opening night for Visible Dance, an installation work created from the costuming and movement from Visi's forthcoming Youth Focus Ball performance at Burswood.

Opening event is at 6:30pm, Sat 22nd August.

"Sailing Away" by Liz McKay, "Shiva's Nemesis" by Priscilla Bracks, "Never Never Land #105" by Betty T Doll.

Crazy..

I've just started at my new position with Elements Art Gallery, which is being really great. The best part is that the standard of artwork there is just amazing, I really love everything they have showing. Shown here is Brian Simmonds' "Delicate Earth" which can currently be seen for another few days. Brian's work is incredible.. bursting with atmosphere, light and sense of place.

Visible Dance has a couple of new opportunities that I'm just sewing up at present, so things continue to go well there.

A couple of weekends ago, I took part in Marnie Orr and Rachel Sweeney's "Camera Body Place" project in Bridgetown. Tomorrow is a feedback sesh at CIA, including the unveiling of the website. I'm currently putting together a mini online community for the project participants to share and discuss the visual outcomes. Once there's a public section to see, I'll post it here also.
